Cheese making Class At Eden's Garden CSA/Farm

Saturday, July 10th -  9:30 am

 

Learn to make your own fresh cheese!  

Farmer Carol Moss of Moss Gathers Farm, will show you how to make mozzarella and ricotta cheese from fresh, local, whole milk. After this class, you should be able to make your own cheese at home with the cheese making kit,  included with your paid class fee. The kit contains everything you will need except the milk, for which we will have a list of local dairies that sell REAL milk.  (It is not available to purchase "away from the farm" that the cows were milked on, but there are a few dairies in the area.)  Class time about 1 hour with time for sampling and  questions. You are welcome to stay and mingle afterwards on the farm so bring a sack lunch if you'd like.

These are based on the internet, US & international agriculture magazines, experiences teaching agriculture in many countries, research and farmer experiences in those countries and a demonstration garden.  They are ecologically sustainable, environmentally responsible, socially just and economically viable.  There is unlimited, documented proof.  On mini-farms the following can double the yields and reduce the labor by half compared to traditional methods.  There are 200,000,000 no-till acres and 85,000,000 acres organic worldwide.  As of 2008, 4,000,000 acres [USA] organic farm land.  ¡It works!

Gardening Classes are about to go to the next level! - TBA

TBA - A two hour hands-on workshop "How to Get Started".   Along with lecture and handouts, we'll actually work in the soil from grass removal to planting.  You'll learn the basics of organics from the soil up to the planting process.  What goes in the soil, how to choose plants for a specific area and how to prepare  and then care for them for the best success.  Stay tuned for details and dates.  Call me to let me know you are interested and to reserve a place as it will be a limited size class and we'll want a minimum of 5, too.  Class cost $25.  Includes hand outs and organic snacks.
